Backup your files

This is the most important advice I can give you.  Always make sure to back up any important files and data.  Backups should be on a separate disc (not your main hard drive) and kept in a safe place.  Writable cd’s or dvd’s (CD-R, CR-RW, DVD-R, DVD-RAM) are difficult to use.  Instead use a USB flash drive.  They are cheap, easy to use and easy to transport.  Very important files and data (such as business records) should be backed up and a copy kept off-site.
If you are having trouble with your computer it may already be too late to make a backup of your important information, so do it now.
