Passwords should be 8-10 characters long, easy to remember but not a word found in the dictionary. Do not use names of people or locations, as these are very easy to guess. Here are some suggestions on how to create secure, easy to remember passwords.
1. Use a combination of short words and numbers that are easy to remember. For example, “2surf4sun” or “golf4fun18” or “drive2fast101”
2. Use the first letter of each word of an easy to remember phrase. For example,
“There’s no such thing as a free lunch” would be “tnstaafl” or the phrase “Drink at least eight glasses of water per day” would be “dalegowpd”.
3. Use a random password generator such as:

4. Again, the most commonly used passwords are children’s, parent’s and pet’s names. These are also the first guesses a hacker will make. Avoid names or places associated with you, these are too easy to guess. Click Here for a great article that details what is a secure password. Pay close attention to the chart of password length vs. “time to guess”.
